Visions of Juan de Rabe of La Mota, Castille, c.1514 and c.1516, investigated by the Inquisition of Cuenca in 1518.

... about four years ago he was on his way alone to turn over the soil in a vineyard at Santa Maria de los Llanos that belonged to his cousin, Francisco Martinez. He was carrying a hoe, a wineskin, and bread for his lunch. On the road he heard a loud bolt of thunder in the sky and said to himself, "God in heaven help me! The sky is clear, why does it thunder?" He said he looked toward town and heard another thunderclap, and since the sky was clear he said, "God help me! What is this about?" Then he looked down, and he said he saw next to his feet Our Lady the Virgin Mary. She seemed to him like a tiny girl, and that she was riding on a tiny burro [donkey] and dressed in white. Asked what colour the burro was, he said it was very pretty but he does not know what colour it was. Asked who came with her, he said that no one else came with her. Asked how he knew or who told him that the girl he referred to was Our Lady, he said that she herself told him so. And that she said to him, "O how many bad people there are in this town of yours who do nothing but blaspheme and forswear my son", and that it was not enough that men should do this, but the women did it too. And that he should tell the whole town and the priest to take the cross and go in procession to the holy calvary in El Pedernoso ... and that they erect a cross where she came and appeared to this witness. And so later he went to tell everybody about it, and they came afterwards with a cross and put it where this witness told them Our Lady had appeared to him.

... two years later Saint Sebastian appeared to him in Los Llanos de la Casa Sola wearing a brown garment and his arrows with blood and a crown of gold like a star. He was about half as tall as this witness, and he came alone. This took place in the morning before this witness had breakfasted, when he was tending the animals of Christobal Sanchez of La Mota. And he told him he was Saint Sebastian, and that he should go to El Toboso because at that time many people were dying of the plague and tell them to build two chapels.

... hace aproximadamente cuatro años, él se dirigía, solo, a darle una vuelta a la tierra en un viñedo de Santa Maria de los Llanos que pertenecía a su primo, Francisco Martínez. Llevaba una azada, un pellejo de vino y el pan para su almuerzo. En el camino, oyó el estruendoso sonido de un trueno y exclamó: "¡Dios me asista! El cielo está despejado, ¿por qué truena?". Él dijo que miró en aquel momento hacia el pueblo y oyó otro tronido, y ya que el cielo continuaba despejado, exclamó de nuevo: "¡Dios me ayude! ¿Qué es esto?". Entonces miró hacia abajo, y dijo que vio junto a sus pies a Nuestra Señora la Virgen María. Ella le pareció como una muchacha diminuta, montada en un borriquillo también diminuto y vestida de blanco. Preguntado por el color del burro, dijo que era muy bonito pero no sabía de qué color era. Preguntado acerca de con quién vino, respondió que nadie más vino con ella. Preguntado sobre cómo sabía o quién le había dicho que la muchacha a que se refería era Nuestra Señora, contestó que Ella misma así se presentó. Y que Ella le dijo: "¡Cuánta gente mala hay en este pueblo, que no hace mas que blasfemar y renegar de mi Hijo!"; y que no sólo los hombres lo hacían, sino las mujeres también. Y esto debería él contar a todo el pueblo y decir al sacerdote que tomara la cruz y fueran en procesión al Sagrado Calvario en El Pedernoso ...y que erigieran una cruz donde Ella se apareció a este testigo. Y después de esto él fue a contarlo a todos, y ellos vinieron más tarde con una cruz y la pusieron donde este testigo les dijo que Nuestra Señora se le había aparecido.

...dos años más tarde, San Sebastián se le apareció en Los Llanos de la Casa Sola vestido con un ropaje marrón y sus flechas ensangrentadas y una corona de oro como una estrella. Era aproximadamente la mitad de alto que este testigo y vino solo. Esto ocurrió por la mañana, antes de que este testigo se hubiera desayunado, cuando atendía a los animales de Cristóbal Sánchez, de La Mota. Y le dijo que era San Sebastián, y que él debería ir a El Toboso porque en aquel tiempo muchas personas morían a causa de la peste y tenía que decirles que construyeran dos capillas.
